Man dies on Operating table

So a man was donating 60% of his liver to his brother-in-law. The reason that Paul was giving part of his liver to Tim was because Tim suffered from liver disease. Both of the wives of the men were waiting in the waiting room while the men were under the knife. Lorraine is Paul's wife and Susie is Tim's wife. Lorraine was not as worried with her husband donating his liver because the doctors said that even though there are risks he will be fine because he is 56 years old and in really good health. Lorraine prayed that both of the men would heal and be alright. Her prayers did not come true because he husband died on the operating table and Tim died less than a year later.
"We walked into the hospital a married couple, and I left the hospital at the end of the day as they loaded my husband onto the coroner's truck," says Lorraine, who has hired a lawyer and plans to file a lawsuit against the hospital."I want everyone to know what a generous, wonderful man Paul was. When he found out Tim needed a liver, he didn't hesitate to say yes," said Lorraine
I would sue that hospital like crazy. I would do everything in my power to get what we deserve. I know that it would not get my family back but it would give me some closure. I read this story and I thought that it was the saddest thing. A man dies for a good deed! Here is a link to the whole story if you all would like to read it.

  1. I blogged about this same story. Thought it was really, really sad. I think a lot of people go into surgery not really understanding the risks, especially the risks with anesthegiology. There are a lot of risks and the hospital has the responsiblity to make sure you understand them all. They act like its all so ho hum.

  2. Things could be a little different when it comes to hospital's explaining all the risk to surgery. But we do leave in the "information age" and people can look up most things and read it. Some risks are a given and others should be explained but most people dont want to know or dont want to read the pamphlets that they are given. They want to just react when something goes wrong and blame people for not giving them the info. I think that people now days are just to sue happy and then we wonder why it cost and arm and leg to get any medical things done....

  3. I completely understand the families tragedy, but sometimes there are underlying medical problems that no one knew about, yes it would be the hospitals responsibility to get that before. But we will always know he's in heaven because of the triumphed work he was offer!
