Brad Pitt is the face for Chanel No. 5

I was reading this ad and I could not help but laugh because I could not see this happening. Brad Pitt is now the new face of Chanel No. 5. This is a woman’s perfume and I do not think of Brad Pitt when I think of this perfume. I think of elegant women. I know that he is a very beautiful man but he needs to be on men’s cologne not on women’s perfume. There have been women like Nicole Kidman, Lauren Hutton and Audrey Tautou that have been the faces of Chanel No. 5. How can he be the face for something that he cannot really wear?  I think that his wife or someone else should be the face for the perfume. Not him. I think that the only reason that he is the face for it is because h has been names the sexiest man alive twice. It is so strange to me because all of the women in my family wear that perfume and I do not think they try and smell like Brad Pitt.

Woman gets life threatening infection

A woman from Georgia was doing a zip line and had an accident out there. She is not fight for her life because she got a flesh eating virus.  She is only 24 years old and might have to lose her leg. There was a homemade zip line on May first while they were kayaking in Carrollton, Georgia.  The line broke and she cut a gash in her left calf and that gave her the life-threatening infection in her abdomen and her left leg. "It's a miracle she made it past Friday night," Copeland's father, Andy, told ABC affiliate WSBTV. Copeland has necrotizing fasciitis from Aeromonas hydrophila, a bacteria found in fresh water, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The bacteria could have come from the creek where Copeland was kayaking, and invaded her body through the gash on her leg. I think this is so sad because she is only 24 years old. She never thought that anything like this would happen to her.

Teacher being spanked by student

This ad just made me really uneasy. There was a picture of a teacher that was being spanked by a student. It was on their facebook. The teacher is seen bent over and smiling in the picture and the student spanking him was smiling too. 

"I'm speechless," said Nadia Hugie as she waited for her daughter outside the school. "That's not appropriate at all. I don't like it," she said, viewing the images on a cellphone screen.

What kind of teacher is going to let a student do that to them and think that they will not get caught. I have heard of so many teachers losing their jobs because they have been doing inappropriate things with students. I sure hope that this teacher loses their jobs and realizes what they have done. I know that teachers are aloud to have fun but they need to be proffessional about it and not hang out with students.

Adam Mayes

I recently did a blog about Adam Mayes and how he has fled after two people have been killed and the other two were found missing. Well he is now on the top of the Most Wanted list for fugitives. They say that he is armed and he has the other two girls that he kidnapped on April 27th. "We will hunt down Adam Mayes and rescue those two little girls," said FBI Special Agent Aaron Ford at a press conference today. Why would he do something like this. I am glad that I was checking the news today. Now whoever reads these blogs will know to look for him as well. "We keenly and firmly believe that Adam Mayes is out there somewhere with those two young children and it's going to be up to the public to help us bring these children back home and place him in custody where he needs to be," said Sheriff Tommy Wilhite of Union County, Miss., where Mayes lives.

$17 million Settlement

Two Hungarian students were killed two years ago when a tugboat-guided barge slammed into and sanked their sightseeing boat.  This happened on the Delaware River.  The families will split $15 million when a settlement was reached Wednesday.  They were only days into a federal wrongful death trial that they thought was going to last for months. There were 18 other passengers that survived and they will be splitting 2 million dollars in the deal.  This was approved by a judge only two days of testimony. I know that we all think that is a lot of money but those people those someone in their life that no amount of money will ever let them get back. I hope that this family decides to use that money wisely and not just waste it on stupid things.

Police kill man!

There were two police officers from Fullerton California that will be tried in the death of a homeless man that was mentally ill.  His beatings from the policeman were caught on video and the judge ruled today. Officer Ramos is 38 and is charged with second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter.  Cicinelli is charged with involuntary manslaughter and assault or battery by a public officer.  Both of the officers have pled not guilty.  If there is proof why would you plead not guilty because that just makes you look stupid. The attorneys for the officers seem to think that it could be the medical treatment of the victim and not the harsh beating of the policeman. They have got to be kidding me! They know that they did it. "The grainy-but-gripping video of a homeless man being beaten to death was the key evidence in the prosecution's successful effort to convince the court to force a police officer to stand trial for murder in the second degree," said Royal Oakes, an ABC News legal analyst who spoke to ABC News Radio.

Paralyzed woman finishes Marathon

Claire Lomas has not been able to walk for 5 years.  She used to ride horses and be very active.  In 2007 a freak accident had her paralyzed from the chest down.  She spent all her time in a wheelchair until she got a bionic suit that was worth $75,000. She was always scared of falling over because when she walked she could not feel anything but that did not stop her to do anything. She ran the London Marathon and walked for 26.2 miles. That is very impressive.

IPAD catches Murder

A man in Massachusetts was accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death while their daughters friend watched the entire thing happen by an IPAD video chat.  He went to jail Tuesday without bond. Apparently the man, Christopher Piantedosi is 39, came to his girlfriend’s house on Thursday and they got into an argument.  Their 15 year old daughter was on her IPAD chatting with a friend on video chat when she heard them fighting she went and checked on them.  The girl found her dad holding a knife and right then her mom went to the bathroom.  The man kicked the door open, threw her on the bed and started stabbing her with a butter knife.  Her friend saw it all.  The girlfriend was yelling Please Please!!!! And the daughter was yelling NO!!!! but all he was saying was “you have got to die!”

4 Kids strapped to car hood!!!!

Police said that on Tuesday a man was taken to jail for drunk driving and neglect becase he drove 3 blocks with fours children strapped to the top of the hood of his car.  The mother of the three children was being held with neglect as well.  The children are only 4, 5, 6, and 7 years old and none of them were injured.  He is lucky that none of them got injured because then he would be in even more trouble than he is. The reason that the man put the children on the hood of the car was because he thought that the children would enjoy the ride.  Is he freaking kidding me. If I saw that I would give that man a piece of my mind. Why would he think that it is alright to do something like that. I would never in my life drink and drive and especially if I had children. How awful do you think he would feel if he hurt one of his children or even killed them. I can not believe that he went three blocks without someone stopping him.

George Zimmerman Pleads Not Guilty

George Zimmerman did not show up for his court appearance in Florida court Tuesday.  His lawyer pled not guilty to second degree murder in the shooting death of a seventeen year old boy named Trayvon Martin. His attorney waived Zimmermans rights to a speedy trial because he needs to prepare for the case a little more.  Zimmerman is in hiding and free on bail.  He is being monitored by GPS though. I would think that if someone did not show up for court then that makes them look a little bit guilty. I think that he did it. I do not know why he has to be in hiding though.

John Edwards Mistress Cover Up

Right before John Edwards went public about being the father of his mistresses daughter he told his speech write that he knew that a wealthy donor had supported the baby girl and family.  I do not know why people tell anyone their secrets if they do not want anyone to know.  If you are a political figure or any type of person for that matter, you should not be going around sleeping behind your spouses back and then raising their child if they have one. That is not ok and I do not like John Edwards for that. I know there are many people that do it and no matter what they always end up getting caught.

Mom and Wife Arrested

The wife and mother were connected to a kidnapping and disappearance of a family of four.  Adam Mayes mother and wife were arrested for aggravated kidnapping.  This was all connected with the kidnapping of JoAnn Bain and her three daughters.  They were reported missing in their home in Tennessee on April 28.  JoAnn Bain and her oldest daughter who was only fourteen were found dead in the backyard of the Mayes home on Guntown Mississippi. Adam Mayes and the other two daughters have not been found yet.  Gary Bain reported the women missing on the 27^th of April. That is JoAnn’s husband and the girls step dad.  The police interviewed Mayes and he said he was the last person to see the girls and when the police went back for another interview Mayes was gone. Mary Mayes is Adams mother and she said that she saw him digging holes in the backyard.

Obi-Wan-Kenobi

There was a man that changed his name to be just like the person in star wars. He legally changed it to Obi Wan Kenobi. I do not know if anyone would take him seriously though. He was just recently charged with a hit and run. He is responsible for a 5 car accident. I know that this is a really bad thing and he should not have done it but the only reason that this is a big deal is because he changed his name. If his name was John Smith then I do not think that people would be making such a big deal about it. He spent 5 days in jail is went to court today. I think that he is going to be charged big time since it was such a bad accident and he left the scene which is illegal to do.

Biggest Full Moon This Weekend!

The biggest full moon of the year is going to happen this weekend. I have always loved looking at the stars and the moon because they are just so interesting. The moon will be full at about 11:35pm on Saturday night. The moon will be 221,802 miles from Earth. The scientists have nicknames this moon a supermoon. I am going to have to see this. It will be very interesting to see. This moon is also said to be about 16 percent brighter than it normally is. The reason that this is happening is because the Earth's orbit is not a perfect circle. Because the moon is going to be so close people have been freaking out that earthquakes and other bad things will happen, but scientists have said to not worry because it is just because of the orbit. The last time the moon was really close to Earth like this was in March of last year. To view the moon at its best you need to look at it just after it is rising or right before it is going to set.

Siblings arrested for crime

There were three siblings called the Doughtery gang and they were sentenced to prison today in Colorado. They went on a multi-state crime spree just last year. The youngest one is 22 and he was the last to get sentenced. He is going to have to serve 18 years in prison. He was going to have to face 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to five counts of menacing. The other two siblings were sentenced to 24 years in prison and 32 years in prison.  Their crimes included a Colorado shootout with police and a bank robbery in Georgia. Now these siblings are so sorry for what they have done. Well of course so because they are going to spend the rest of their lives in prison. They did awful things and they deserve to pay the price.

Young women want it all, perhaps more than young men

I was reading this article and it says that in today's times it is more likely for a women to say that they want to be successful than a man. This report was released Thursday and it found that 66 percent of women from the ages 18-34 said that being successfull and having a high-paying job are very important or those are one of the most important things in life and only 59 percent of men said the same thing. At this day and age a lot of men are trying for sports or wanting to be rappers or just stay at farming.  I would say that my main goal in life is to be successful. Young women were also more likely to say that being a good parent and having a good marriage were among the most important things in their life.

                          My sister used to hang out with the wrong crowd and got into drugs pretty bad and I remember her telling me that she used to use those for drugs too. So I am sure that if she did it then that mean many other people did it as well.

I found these really cool facts and these 5 really stuck out to me.

1. More than ten people a year are killed by vending machines.
            I do get how this can happen because people are always trying to get their stuff out of the machines because they stop working. I am sure that is not the real reason why but that is what I came up with.

2. Hippo milk is pink.

     I could not really understand this one. I just hope it is ok to drink because I love pink and it would be really cool to just drink pink milk.

3. Women have a better sense of smell than men.

          I thought this was intersesting. I wonder how they know this though, maybe it is something in the brain that triggers it or something.

4. The human brain has the capacity to store everything that you experience.

          This is so weird to think about because people say we only use 10% of our brain but if we really think about everything that has happened to us I bet that this is really true. It is hard to think of everything that has happened to you but I read this article that said this woman knew everything that happened to her since the age of about 11. That would be so hard to rememeber.

5. Ice Cream is chinese food!

           This is probably why that is always the desert at the buffets! Makes sense now!

Robin Gibbs

Robin Gibbs is a former Bee Gee and he is still in a coma.  Dwina Gibb is his wife and he is still right by his side. They have always told people that they have an open marriage because he is a father of their former housekeeper and she said that she also likes women. They have been married for 28 years and you can still tell that they are in love. Many people might think that their relationship is weird but they are just being honest like many other people should be about their relationships. My sisters neighbors have an open marriage oplicy but that is only because they are trying to hide that the man in the relationship is gay and he does not want his family to know. "However absurd their relationship may appear, there's never any question that they are very, very bonded," writer and film professor David N. Meyer, who is writing an unauthorized biography on the Bee Gees, told ABCNews.com. "He has relied on her in a number of ways. She is no joke to him. Their love for one another is very tight."

Almost SUMMER!!!

I am so excited that the school year is almost over. I have had so much work to do and so little time to do it. It is not like the summer is going to be that relaxing either. I am going to be taking summer classes and working over 40 hours a week. Being a grownup is so exhausting sometimes. I do not know how I do it. I just recently moved into my new apartment and I have not really had the time to enjoy it because I have been so busy with school and work. I have not even unpacked everything because I just go home and go to sleep after I get off of work. On the weekends I sometimes go to Kansas City to visit my family so that does not really leave anytime to relax either. I am hoping that the summer will be a little less stressful though! We will see what happens!!!

2000 pound shark caught!!!

There were two fisherman in Mexico fishing and they caught a great white shark that weighed two thousand pounds. It was measured almost 20 feet long.  It was caught in the Sea of Cortez on Sunday. Apparently the shark was already dead when they found it but still that is a pretty big shark! I do not know how those men even got it up. “We were amazed and immediately realized that we had a huge, dead, great white shark, and then we thought what are we going to do?” Guadalupe told Pisces Sportfishing's Tracy Ehrenberg.  They had to have their boat towed to shore because the shark was so heavy.  There were over 50 other people that helped the men get the shark onto the docks. Pisces Sportfishing reported that the shark “fed the whole town.” I am going to tell my boyfriend that that is where we need to start fishing because they have 2000 pound sharks!!!

School District Pays out $4.2 Million to Student Paralyzed by Bully Attack

Sawyer Rosenstein was a 12 year old boy and on the day of  May 16, 2006 his whole entire life would be different. He went to Eric Smith Middle School in New Jersey. Another student thought that it would be ok to punch him in the stomach.  Because he punched him in the stomack that sent a blood clot to his spine. That paralyzed him from the waist down only a week after that happened. He is now a college student and in a wheelchair and has been in one for the last six years.  His family has now recieved a settlement for over four million dollars.  The attorney of the family said that this case is really unique because he has not ever heard of another bullying case that got a large settlement just based off personal injury.
“This was a three-pronged case,” he told ABC News. “We had to show that his paralysis was a result of the punch. We also found that the school knew Sawyer had been regularly bullied, and didn’t do anything about it, and that the other student had showed violent propensities, and they didn’t do anything about that either.” Rosenstien sent many emails to the administrators for months saying that he was getting bulled and they did nothing about it. Well now that school has lost a lot of money for not doing anything. Because of them this kid will be paralyzed for the rest of his life. I am so sick of people getting bullied. You see things all over the internet about kids killing themselves for something that someone did to them. Why do people think that it is ok to do that to someone. I do not know why these parents are just letting their children bullying other children. That is not ok and there needs to be an end to it.

Nurse Who Snatched Baby Keegan, Killed Mom, Seeks Bail

A Texas nurse who admitted to killing a 28-year-old mother and stealing her infant son from a parking lot in broad daylight appeared before a judge today asking to be released on bond. When I was reading this article I was so dissappointed in that very first sentence. It went on to say that that is not the type of person she is, she would never kill someone or take a baby and that she is so soft spoken and kind. Well I think that she is that type of person if she did it. What kind of person thinks that it is ok to do something like that. I hope that they do not let her out because she killed someone and who is to say that she will not do it again. They let people out of prison for molesting, killing and stealing before they let someone out for drugs. So they really need to think about what they are doing.  Her next trial will be on Monday and I hope that they make her stay in there.

Fired for being Muslim

There were four men that were managers at IHOP in Texas.  They all have worked there for many years. One of them has worked there over 20 years and the others have worked there for 12 years and 5 years.  They are all fighting the owner of IHOP in court because they were fired without a reason.  They all think that it is because of their nationality and religion. On court papers they all identified themselves as Muslims of Arab decent. "They weren't terminated because someone complained or because someone didn't like their attitude," said Sara Kane, a civil rights attorney representing the men. "They were fired because of who they are. That is the determining factor." All of these men were fired between March and October of 2010.  All of these men together filed a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.  They knew that they had a case with these mens complaint. "The IHOP corporation has a four-step disciplinary procedure," Kane said. "The franchisee did not follow any of those steps." Kane, along with attorney Jay Ellwanger, filed suit on behalf of the men Tuesday, against IHOP and Anthraper Investments, the firm that owns the four franchises involved in Plano, Fort Worth, Arlington and Burleston, Texas. These men say that they experienced harrassment from the company's President and the COO and also the Vice President.  The four men said that the President and the Vice President used derogatory comments to these men.
In one instance, the complaint states the men were attending a managers' meeting in 2010, where Hawker said, "Arab men treat women poorly and with disrespect, we're going to let these people go and have new faces coming in."
Outraged by the company's actions, Kane said, "This is not a Muslim issue, this is a human issue."
"It is completely disheartening and disgraceful to know that this is still going on and should not be tolerated by anyone in our society," she said. "No one else should take this case lightly because if it can happen to them, it can happen to you." It is so crazy that this is going on because you would think that we have all gotten passed the inequality.  I have been to the IHOP in Plano Texas because my family lives there and I never have had bad service there. I hope that these men win their case because they deserve it.
Kane said her clients are seeking back wages and payment for emotional damages following their terminations.

Feds scour basement where Etan Patz met carpenter, sources say

THere was a little boy age 6 named Etan Patz who went missing in 1979. The day before he went missing he came in contact with a man that is 42 years old. He was a carpenter and this kids went to his basement.  The police are just now searching this basement because there is a source with knowledge of the investigation.  The man gave the little boy a dollar the day before he wernt missing. Patz went missing on his way to the bus stop the next day.  One of the sources thought that they should bring in a search dog and the dog found the scent of human remains. 

"We're looking for human remains, clothing or other personal effects of Etan Patz," New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne said of the current investigation. "It's a very painstaking process."  Because this boy went missing they put his picture on the side of a milk carton and that is the first time that authorities have ever decided to do that for a missing child. Jose Antonia Ramos is a convicted child molester and was aquianted with Etan's baby sitter.  He has been identified as a suspect in the case but he was never charged. Jose is in the prison in Pennsylvania on unrelated charges.  The man that gave Etan the dollar, the carpenter, is now 75 years old and is not in custody.  The police say that they know where he is and are in contact with him. They do not want to say a name because that man has not been charged with anything yet. The day of his disappearance the police and Etan's family searched for him and could not find him. They searched for weeks and nothing of Etan was found.

I do not know why it took the police over 30 years to figure out that it might be this man. That little boys family has probably wondered about this everyday of their lives.

The boy's disappearance was thought to raise awareness of child abductions and led to new ways to search for missing children.

President Ronald Reagan named May 25, the day Etan went missing, National Missing Children's Day.

R.I.P Dick Clark

 Dick Clark died on Wednesday April 18, 2012. He was known to many as Americas Oldest Teenager.  He was a force behind so many things like, television, radio and real estate.  He was one of the greatest entrepreneurs.  He had a degree in business from Syracuse University. He once said "I knew being a performer does not necessarily carry with it a lot of longevity. That's why I became a producer." He saw the opportunities he had and he took them.  I remember when I was younger every New Year we would all watch the ball drop on New Years with Dick Clark.  Dick Clark was the host of American Bandstand.  The show first started out as Bandstand whenever rock'n'roll was first being established as the new pop music and Dick Clark was there on the ground floor.  Whenever the show proved to promote very good artists they decided to make it national and call it American Bandstand.  Dick Clark is going to be missed by so many people and his legacy will always live on.  

 

 

 

GMA beats the Today Show

NBC's Today show was outperformed but the cast of Good Morning America for the first time in 16 years. There were 31,000 more viewers last week for Good Morning America than the Today show. I think that might be because the host of the Today show was out all that week, that was Matt Lauer. There is so much competition with the morning shows because if the morning show is good for that network then more people will tune into watch the shows on that network. The Good Morning America morning show drew in over 5 million viewers and that show was also ranked number 1 in the morning slot for the week of April 9th. This was according to the Nielsen ratings on Thursday. All of the people involved with Good Morning America and the network are very excited that it all happened.

Tim Tebow booed!!!

Tim Tebow was booed on Sunday night when he went to a Yankees game. He is the backup quarterback for the Jets so you would think that the New Yorkers would not boo him.  He was even in a Yankees baseball cap. He was in the third row next to the Angels dugout.  When the camera was on him he smiled to acknowledge it.  There were some cheers when he showed that smile but most of the crowed booed him.  The person that he was sitting next to which was Miami Heat basketball player Dwyane Wade also got booed later on in the game. I do not know why people decided to do that but it happened. Maybe because neither of them are baseball players. Wades boos quickly turned to cheers after he put his Yankees hat in the air. So maybe that is why they did it to Tebow. The Miami Heat beat the New York Knicks that Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden. I do not think that I could ever boo Tebow!! He is too cute and he is an awesome Christian!

Grandmas are criminals too!!!!

I read this article and it kind of made me laugh. This older woman was found with four pounds of pot and $276,000 all in cash.  Police say that she is Oklahomas biggest drug kingpin.  Whenever the police found $15,000 bundles of cash stashed away in her home she told the police officers that it was for her retirement fund. That part really made me laugh because why would she think that the police would believe her!!!  She also had a semiautomatic pistol and revolver. This grandma is not about playing games haha!!  Her pot dealing network went from Tulsa to Arkansas to Kansas and Missouri! The police believe that she supplied up to 40 percent of the pot in that area! Because the area was so large police believe that she had many dealers.  Her son was arrested as well because they think that he was helping her.  Brad Garrett is in law enforcement and he says that seniors that look harmless can sometimes be the most efficient drug dealers.  He says that if those kind of people keep a low profile and do not talk to people then they can go on with these types of things for years because there is so much money that can be made. I better watch out for my grandma haha!!

Brides Shedding Pounds With Feeding Tubes!!!

I saw this ad and I figured that I just had to post about it. It made me sick to my stomach. These brides that want to lose weight fast right before their wedding are putting feeding tubes in their noses for about ten days. This diet is called the K-E diet. It promises people that they will lose 20 pounds in just 10 days. I do not think that is healthy at all. What happens when they take the feeding tube out. They are just going to gain the weight right back on. It is just like taking diet pills or all of that other stuff that says you lose a certain amount in so many days. I do not think that this is healthy at all. The people that are doing this diet are fed a constant slow drip of protein and fat which is mixed in with water. It contains zero carbohydrates and is only 800 calories a day!! That is not enough for people to stay healthy. We will see what happens to all of these women that are taking it. Man dies on Operating table

So a man was donating 60% of his liver to his brother-in-law. The reason that Paul was giving part of his liver to Tim was because Tim suffered from liver disease. Both of the wives of the men were waiting in the waiting room while the men were under the knife. Lorraine is Paul's wife and Susie is Tim's wife. Lorraine was not as worried with her husband donating his liver because the doctors said that even though there are risks he will be fine because he is 56 years old and in really good health. Lorraine prayed that both of the men would heal and be alright. Her prayers did not come true because he husband died on the operating table and Tim died less than a year later.

"We walked into the hospital a married couple, and I left the hospital at the end of the day as they loaded my husband onto the coroner's truck," says Lorraine, who has hired a lawyer and plans to file a lawsuit against the hospital."I want everyone to know what a generous, wonderful man Paul was. When he found out Tim needed a liver, he didn't hesitate to say yes," said Lorraine

I would sue that hospital like crazy. I would do everything in my power to get what we deserve. I know that it would not get my family back but it would give me some closure. GO KU!!!

I have not been a Kansas fan very long. I normally go toward Missouri but now that they are in different conferences, I feel that it is alright! I am really looking forward to the game tonight. I think that Kansas actually has a shot in winning tonight even though we know that Kentucky is better. Kansas is behind Kentucky by 6 points which makes them the underdog. There has been many times that Kansas has made a big win when people did not think that it was going to happen. In 1988 they beat Oklahoma by 4 points, in 1991 they beat UNLV, in 1997 they beat Kentucky by 5 points and in 1999 they beat Duke by 3 points.  In all of these games Kansas was ranked lower than all of them and they pulled it through to win the game.  I think that they can do it again. I think that the players, fans and coaches are ready for the rematch against Kentucky.  Looking back on stats really helps people remember how the game went for those teams. 

Ashton Kutcher becomes Steve Jobs

Ashton Kutcher has already replaced Charlie Sheen in Two and a Half Men. Ashton Kutcher is going to play Steve Jobs, the apple founder because they say that he looks a lot like him. It will be an indie biopic that is titled, Jobs, Variety reports. The film will be about Jobs and how he became the Apple founder.  They are going to start with his life as the "wayward hippie" and go from there. He is one of the most respected and most powerful entrepreneurs in the world of business and technology.  Last October Jobs passed away. This film that Ashton Kutcher is going to be in will be based on the best-selling bio about Jobs.  Walter Isaacson is the author of that book. They are not sure yet if Ashton Kutcher is going to do another season of Two and a Half Men because he has not signed his deal for another season. E! says that Ashton Kutcher will most likely be back for another season of the show.  They would film while the show is off in May. I am looking forward to seeing Ashton Kutcher play this role because we do not really see him in many serious shows or movies.

Easter!!

I cannot believe that it is already April and that Easter is almost here. I feel like that it just snuck up on us. I have so many things to do before Easter weekend. I finally get to move into my new apartment on Friday, but it stinks that I will not get to stay in my own place until Sunday night because I have to go to Kansas City to see my family.  I have to get Easter baskets for my nieces and nephews.  My family does not know that I get to come home for Easter so I am really excited that I will get to surprise them!! They will be so happy that I am home!! It stinks to be so far away but it is kind of nice too because I get spoiled when I come see them!! I hope everyone has a safe and happy Easter.

April Fools!!!

Mitt Romney got a joke played on him today, and he says that it is a day that he will never forget.  His staff put him in this empty room and said he had to speak in it even though there was no one in there. He was supposed to speak in a packed ballroom with an actual audience.  This all happened just days before the Wisconsin primary. I think that it is really neat that even when things are stressful they can still make light of things and play jokes and still be professional. I did not even know that it was April fools day until this afternoon when one of my friends played a trick on me. I felt really stupid after I realized what the date was.

The EGG!!!!!

According to ABC news the egg is used around the world as a symbol of the start of new life and they are given to celebrate Easter or springtime.  Eggs are so much a part of our everyday lives that some of us might have forgotten their many benefits: nutrition powerhouse, economic protein, culinary necessity and delicious taste.  Here’s some fun and helpful info about this wonderful little ellipsoid.

Scoot your booty J Lo!!!

On American Idol another singer went home.  Nicki Minaj performs one of her songs on the show. She had a really good performance and right before she sang she came out of a spaceship. She says that she wants to be a host on American Idol and asked J Lo if she would just scoot over a little bit. She said that there is not enough room for both of them and J Lo laughed nervously. The singer from last season was on there, Scotty, and he was presented with a plaque because he sold over a million copies of his cd. I used to watch American Idol all the time because it was so different and interesting. Now there are so many singing shows, they are all starting to run together. I do not really watch it anymore.

New Anchorman!!!!!!

I am so excited that there is going to be a sequel to the movie Anchorman! I really love this movie and I have seen it too many times to count. I can basically state the entire movie. I think I will probably do it with this movie as well. I know that sometimes the second movie is not as good as the first so we will see how it goes. I think it will still be good because Will Ferrell will be in it.

5 people dead from motor home crash

The motor home was filled with 18 people and it was also pulling a trailor.  The motor home crashed and killed 5 people and sent the rest to the hospital. The driver lost control on Interstate 35 at 9 o'clock in the morning. The vehicle hit a guard rail and a conrete bridge.  This happened in Williamsburg, Kansas. That is only 70 miles away from Kansas City, Missouri. The people that were dead included adults and chilren. When this was posted they had not yet released the names of the people that were hurt and dead because their families still did not know. Many of the people that were injured have been released from the hospitals that they were staying at.  One of the officers said that there are times that they get many fatalities in one accident but he is glad that they do not happen all the time. I am glad that nothing like this has happened in my life yet. I mean I have lost people in my life but not all at once. I could not even imagine what that would be like.

Kony 2012

Joseph Kony is the world’s worst war criminal. In 1987 he took over leadership of an existing rebel group and renamed it the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA).
The LRA has earned a reputation for its cruel and brutal tactics. When Joseph Kony found himself running out of fighters, he started abducting children to be soldiers in his army or “wives” for his officers. The LRA is encouraged to rape, mutilate, and kill civilians–often with blunt weapons.
The LRA is no longer active in northern Uganda (where it originated) but it continues its campaign of violence in Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, and South Sudan. In its 26-year history, the LRA has abducted more than 30,000 children and displaced at least 2.1 million people.

Invisible Children has been working for 9 years to end Africa’s longest-running armed conflict. U.S. military advisers are currently deployed in Central Africa on a “time-limited” mission to stop Kony and disarm the LRA. If Kony isn’t captured this year, the window will be gone.

Ohio shooting!!

Authorities said a teen gunman opened fire inside the school cafeteria around 7:30 a.m., fatally wounding one student and seriously injuring four others. The suspect was taken into custody near his car a half-mile from the Cleveland-area school of 1,100 students.Hiding in classrooms, frightened students spent more than an hour trying to communicate with the outside world and get reliable information, said senior Matt Goergen, 17, who was in first-period English class when the school went into lockdown. Many in the room didn't believe there was a shooting until "a girl sitting next to me got a call from her dad saying it was real," he said in a text message interview.

After police confirmed that a shooting had taken place, "it was pretty panicked. Girls shaking, guys shaking, people calling their moms. It got pretty intense pretty fast."

Senior Seanna Sicher, 18, was in physics class."My class assumed that it was just a drill and drifted towards the back wall. Lights were turned out, the door was locked, the window covered," she said. "It was maybe five minutes later when our teacher received an e-mail and people started checking their phones. We realized immediately that it was serious and the whole room fell silent."

Five students, including Daniel Parmertor and Demetrius Hewlin, were taken to local hospitals. Metro Health Medical Center later identified Parmertor as the lone fatality. But by then, a Twitter user had created an #RIPDemetrius hashtag mistakenly identifying Hewlin as the victim.

The school used a phone-alert system to tell parents about the shooting, and hundreds of parents rushed to the school Monday morning, where police, FBI, SWAT team members, ambulances and other officials were on the scene

Cell phone bill passed

A state law  being proposed in Arizona could be the first in the nation to change that.

Republican state Sen. Rich Crandall has proposed a law to require cellphone companies to offer Arizona parents access to their minor children's texts.

"If I have a 13-year-old being harassed via text, I can't call and get those texts," Crandall said. "This bill will allow me to at least pay to see the text messages for my children." Under the bill, phone companies could charge a fee for that service.

The bill passed the Senate Judiciary Committee on Feb. 13, and awaits a vote in the full Senate. There is no companion bill in the House.

No other state appears to have such a requirement for cellphone companies..It remains unclear whether the state has the authority to require companies to give access to texts.

Some questioned the need for such a bill, including Republican state Sen. Judy Burges, who voted against it in committee. "Why don't you take a flashlight and go in the closet and read the texts?" she asked.

Lisa Douglas, author of the parenting blog, Crazy Adventures in Parenting, said that in her online bill she can only see the phone numbers her daughter sends and receives messages from.

"What if someone is threatening her, or harassing her, and she's too afraid to say anything?" she said.

Paula Goldberg, executive director of PACER Center, a non-profit organization which provides resources for bullying victims, said trust and communication are the best tools against bullying.This is a good site to look at if your child is getting bullied by other kids over text messages

"The issue is that parents should have good communication with their children," Goldberg said.

The wireless industry has spoken out against the bill, saying it is impractical.

Lobbyist John Kelly, who represents Verizon Wireless, testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee that the law would require cellphone companies to create special procedures for Arizona customers.

"We are very sympathetic to the intent, but it is a burden on the company," he said.

Jamie Hastings, of the CTIA-The Wireless Association, said that even if the law passes, service providers would likely still need to obtain consent from the child under federal law.

Ketchup Please!!!

Want some ketchup with that kasha? More and more Russians – as well as Europeans, Chinese and Brazilians  – seem to be slathering the tomato-based sauce on their cuisines.
But there’s less red on burgers and fries in the U.S., where H.J. Heinz Co.said its third quarter sales trailed strong international results.
The company’s revenue abroad spiked 20% in the quarter ended Jan. 25 and made up 20% of all Heinz sales. Revenue from ketchup alone was up 8.8% globally even though in countries such as China, it’s still so new a concept that it’s often referred to as “tomato sauce.”
In North America, however, so-called organic sales – which exclude the effects of mergers, acquisitions and borrowing – were up just 1.3% while volume slipped 2% as the Pittsburgh-based company raised prices on its frozen potatoes, sauces and ketchup.
To lift sales, with an eye to the value-conscious consumer, Heinz said it will launch new products in more manageable sizes and prices, including a 10-ounce stand-up pouch of ketchup for 99 cents and smaller versions of its yellow mustard and Worcestershire sauces for about $1.
Overall, Heinz’s revenue increased 7.2% year over year to $2.9 billion. Net income was up 3.9% to $287.2 million. Segments such as infant and nutrition products were down for the quarter.

Cute and Cuddly

Polar bears were added to the list of threatened species and will receive special protection under U.S. law. In his statement, Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne noted that the decline of Arctic sea ice is the greatest threat to the bears.

Polar bears live in the Arctic and hunt seals and other fatty marine mammals from sea ice. They also travel, mate, and sometimes give birth on the ice. But sea ice is melting as the planet warms, and it is predicted to continue to do so for several more decades.

"Because polar bears are vulnerable to this loss of habitat, they are—in my judgment—likely to become endangered in the foreseeable future," Kempthorne said.

Although many scientists say that human activity is directly responsible for the melting sea ice, the new polar bear protections will not change U.S. climate policy.

The U.S. classifies the polar bear as a marine mammal, which means that the bear's new threatened status will not stop oil exploration within its habitat.  Hunting of polar bears as a food source by certain native people and trade in native handicrafts made from polar bears will also continue. However, importing polar bear products from Canada (where trophy hunting is legal) will be banned.

Scott Bergen is a landscape ecologist with the New York-based Wildlife Conservation Society and a contributing author to U.S. Geological Survey studies released in 2007 that found two-thirds of the world's polar bears could go extinct by 2050. He and other WCS staff are "almost elated" with the decision, he said.

"Even though it doesn't directly influence carbon emissions so to speak, we think it is a definite decision in the right direction and we're pleased to see the Fish and Wildlife Service is supporting the best science on this species," he added.

Bergen noted that saving the polar bear will depend on international cooperation. Permanent sea-ice habitat is likely to remain in areas outside of the U.S., particularly in Canada and Greenland.

Scientists view these areas as refuges that could allow some polar bear populations to survive over the long term and repopulate the Arctic if temperatures decrease and sea ice returns.

"If you take a long-term view—meaning a hundred-year view into the future," he said, "polar bears' existence is not necessarily totally dependent on what happens in the United States."

Four killed in US spy plane crash: US military

Four American special operations personnel were killed over the weekend in the crash of their aircraft in Djibouti as it returned from a mission, the US military said Monday.

The U-28, a modified single engine turbo prop plane used by special operations units, crashed Saturday near Camp Lemonnier, a base used by the US military in the tiny Horn of Africa state.

The Pentagon identified the victims as Captain Ryan Hall, 30, Captain Nicholas Whitlock, First Lieutenant Justin Wilkins, and senior airman Julian Scholten, 26.

The four were based in Hulbert Field, Florida where they were assigned to special operations and intelligence squadrons.

The US Africa Command said the U-28 was on a "routine flight" when it went down six miles (10 kilometers) from the Djibouti International Airport.

I think that it is so sad when things like this happen. I could never imagine someone coming up to my door telling me that my loved one has been killed. I have a family member and a really good friend overseas right now and I can not even imagine that happening to me. For it to only be 6 miles away from the airport is really something. They were so close to being back safe. I know that I just have to pray for their families and know that it is hard for them. They died surving for our country. God bless them!

Rescuers have pulled a 5-year-old girl alive from the rubble of a house flattened by a massive avalanche that killed both her parents and at least seven of her relatives in a remote mountain village in southern Kosovo.  This little girl nd her house were burried under 10 meters of snow. They found her because they heard her voice and her call phone. This little girl is so lucky to be alive after something like this happens.

There was a lottery winner in Rhode Island. He won over 336 million dollars. I could not even imagine the taxes on that kind of money. The new multimillionair has not come forward and no one knows where the lottery ticket was sold. I am sure once people find out there will be more people going there. Out of all the states, it is funny that the smallest state has a winner of the powerball. What a lucky man.

We Should Have Seen it Coming!!!!

Whitney Houston died yesterday and I did not find out how she died, I will assume it is drug related or something along those lines. She was found in her bathtub unconscious.The Whitney Houston we all knew was ruined with all of those drugs. We all should have seen it coming though. She has been doing drugs and alcohol for the longest time. It is somewhat ironic who she died the day before the Grammy's. Before everyone found out about her death they were all talking about if Adele was going to sing since she had vocal cord surgery. Now all the focus is on Whitney Houston.

Actor shocked at photo

An overweight man in Los Angeles says he was very shocked to discover an altered photo of him with his legs missing on the billboards in New York City.
27-year-old Cleo Berry tells the New York Times that while living in there several years ago, he participated in a $500 photo shoot with photographer Morten Smidt. Without Berry knowing, those photos were then sold to Image Source, which is a stock photo company. 
The stock photo was then sold to New York City's Department of Health, who digitally altered the photo to remove Berry's right leg and is using the photo as part of an anti-diabetes campaign.
"I cried at my computer screen for, like, a minute." Berry said of first seeing the altered photo. "I said: 'Oh my gosh, they even gave me crutches. Come on, people.' "
The health department said it's common practice to alter photos without the model's participation. And Berry agrees he signed a waiver before the shoot, allowing for such alterations and distribution.
"This issue isn't about one actor but rather the 700,000 New Yorkers who struggle with diabetes, which kills 1,700 people a year and causes amputations in another 3,000," said John Kelly, a spokesman for the health department, in a statement. "Advertising to warn the public about health concerns saves lives, and we will continue our efforts to warn New Yorkers about diabetes."
Berry said his main objection over the advertisement is how it could affect his acting career. "I've always wanted my photo in an ad all over the city, but I was hoping it would be for a TV show or something, not — this," Berry said.

And he's even willing to seek professional revenge, offering to lower his usual acting rate to any soda companies who might want to use his unaltered image in one of their campaigns.
"I'll sing and dance for them and I won't charge an arm and a leg," he said.

Hey class! I am Kelsey Limbaugh. I am from Kansas City and just started going to MSSU in June. I was going to Park University for 3 years and decided to make a change to here. I am the youngest of 6 children. I am majoring in elementary education. Chilren are very important to me. I work at a daycare right now working in the preschool room. I absolutely love it!! I have always been pretty good in my English classes so we will see how this one goes! I am some what nervous about doing this class online though! I cannot wait to read about all of you all.
